A stack of great Jazz comes my way, with an extra bonus   Fortune, it's a funny thing. Yesterday July 22nd 2019, I made a moment to fly in on King Bee Records 519 Wilbraham Rd, Chorlton. Nothing special about this, I have been passing by this record store for the past 30 years.  This time was no different, except I managed to pick up a stack of Jazz LPs,  the likes of The Oscar Peterson Trio, Ella & Louis, Coleman Hawkins, Duke Ellington, Errol Garner, Joe Newman and his band, Billie Holiday, Fats Waller, Jimme Lunceford, Pee Wee Erwin, Art Tatum, yes, I know, that's a lot of names, I walked out of the record store with more than 20 vinyl LPs.   At the time of purchase I was not paying too much attention to the hand written names written on the back of many of the vinyl LP ́s I snaffled. At home I realised I have picked up a wedge of vinyl from one gentleman by the name of Derek Tiptons. So, a rather nice slice of Dereks collection is now mine!

Louis Armstrong - Nobody knows the trouble I've seen

These lyrics are perfect for everyone today  The world is not in a good place, Iran, Brexit, Trump, climate change, corruption, cryptocurrency, food and water security, contamination, the list goes on, knowone knows the trouble we have seen nor where we are heading.    Nobody knows the trouble I've seen Nobody knows my sorrow Nobody knows the trouble I've seen Glory, Hallelujah Nobody knows the trouble I've seen Nobody knows but Jesus Nobody knows the trouble I've seen Glory, Hallelujah Sometimes I'm up Sometimes I'm down Oh, yes, Lord Sometimes I'm almost to the ground Oh, yes, Lord Oh, nobody knows the trouble I've seen Nobody knows my sorrow Nobody knows the trouble I've seen Glory, Hallelujah Oh, every

✰ Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong - Stompin' At the Savoy

What a version Ella and Louis had so much fun So nice to hear these two legends, flowing and swinging with two gorgeous smiles, and as close as you can be in a duet. It's one of those recording where you have to say they nailed it. As the incredible Norman Granz would have said " genuinely too good to explain".

Stephen - Crossfire

Where did he go? Crossfire," a captivating track by the artist Stephen, strikes a profound chord with its listeners through its emotive depth and compelling lyrical narrative. This song is not just an auditory experience; it's a powerful commentary on the complexities of societal issues, wrapped in a melody that's both haunting and beautiful. Stephen's vocal delivery is raw and sincere, creating an immediate connection with the listener. The song starts with a gentle, melodic intro, setting a reflective mood before building up to a more intense, almost anthemic chorus. This dynamic shift in energy not only showcases Stephen's versatility as an artist but also mirrors the tumultuous nature of the subjects he tackles within the lyrics. What sets "Crossfire" apart is its ability to blend a poignant message with a sound that's accessible to a wide audience. The track navigates the fine line between being thought-provoking and universally appealing, making

(Yat-Kha) Will You Go, Lassie, Go

The WildMountain Thyme Artist : Albert Kuvezin Now, I have heard some versions in my time, and always been fond of Japp Blanc, but this cover version of the Corries - Go Lassie Go by Alber Kuvezin throat singer, is just fantastic.  Especially since I just arrived back to  The Bonnie Banks o' Loch Lomond oh, and how  bonny Scotland is!  This cover is a beast, what a tribute. A super cover.  Lyrics O the summer time has come And thr trees are sweetly bloomin' The wild mountain thyme Grows around the bloomin' heather Will ye go lassie go? refrain: And we'll all go together To pull wild mountain thyme All around the bloomin' heather Will ye go lassie go? I will build my love a bower By yon cool crystal fountain And around it I will pile All the wild flowers o' the mountain Will ye go lassie go? refrain I will range through the wiles And the deep glen sae dreary And return wi' their spoils Tae the bower o' my dearie Will ye go lassie go

River Of Stars (dedicated to Arro, Fiona, Aloha) - Real music for meditation.

River Of Stars by Adrian Freedman I love it when a song helps me breath and calm and here is one just song.  Well, it is more of a voyage than a song, it´s a voyage that you play and never wish to stop, there is no need to put it down, as you barely need to pick it up. The piece moves effortlessly over you, washing and drifting helping you breath, there is no weight.   In times when more and more we find intensity on every corner  It is a blessing to have a song which helps us ease into a place of serenity. If indeed you wish to give yourself 22min. of total peace. Take the time to play this.    The song is part of the Kindres Souls playlist. You can find more of this music on Adrians  Shakuhaci and website. Enjoy.

I Am In Love - Cole Porter Sings (Should I order cyanide or Champagne?)

I have lived in Spain for 15 years, during all of my time here I have been surrounded and submerged  in and by music, tonight a certain Tomaso Douglas  played the best song anybody has ever played whilst I have lived and listened to pre-recorded music in Spain.  Which DJ plays Cole Porter in Madrid? Now a day, who does that? Nobody plays Cole Porter, it´s not fair, well it´s not fair to say "nobody plays him", as they clearly do,  that somebody was Tomaso, spinning history in our bar in Lavapies. inside the authentic little Traveling Bar, a place that on more than one occasion can defy and remember musical gems like no other place in the city -what a treat and even strange, whilst listening to the song, no-one, absolutely no body was their, it was just the two of us, inside listening, my own personal show from Cole Porter and of course I requested more. As it stands today on Youtube I was the 823rd person to have played Cole Porter - I am in Love on Youtube today,

Jansky Noise - Plays live in Madrid

In a true and impossible style Jansky noise just appeared in Madrid . True as this did happen and impossible because if you wanted to go, yourself you most probably couldn't as you will most probably have read this after the event. How was it? There was plenty of noise and variation of texture especially from Horacio Pollard and xxxxxx. Jansky played another way Starting with Mississippi blues,  the music was then taken into a kaleidoscope of hymns, and rituals, to slide on through electro, break beat, dubbing his soul and rubber neck funk for those fortune to be in the room.  The event gave birth to an epic rural limbo and movement of hips. In the words of Horacio "Jansky got the party started and kept it there".

Demis Roussos - Forever and Ever

What a song, I mean come on. Demis, really this is eternal. It´s just too good. Play loud, play clear, what an absolute belter....Everyday, more and more I am like Demis, one word a hero! Dream come true!!! Enjoy your summer.

We have reached a point —  where it is essential to speak about the continued Russian Scandal. As the game of thrones like political oust, has demonstrated and  Mariano  Rajoy is out. This is more than just a minor controversy it´s a national drama.  While this is explosive and damaging, the major scandal is sprawling and leaking out, as evidence suggests that the Russians have played a hand in the fall of Mariano Rajoy.  News is still coming in from the boundaries and it's a  blurry affair. As ever the Russians are fast to react and defend their case. However this time the cover-up comes in the form of a cover song from the fortified Kremlin . The Kremlin  normally remain silent however the have broken the  constitutional parameters with a Blues  lament  with strong Russian undertones for Mariano Rajoy. P receding to pass through several  episodes, and themes however is this enough to eliminate  the Russians from this new Spanish scandal ?   What is worse the crim

Newcleus - Computer Age (Push The Button) (1984)

Computer Age (Push the button) sounds as fresh today as it did 35 years ago.  Newcleus, have been jamming on it forever now, this track helped many others to push the button, as did the Jam on it track.  Ben Cozmo D Cenac pushed a button that never stopped, actually it helped to trigger so much, when you hear this kind of music, you want to start lockin, popping, and looking for cardboard to break on!  As someone commented on Youtube " JAMS for grown ups!!" Word.. I am glad, I had the pleasure of knowing and feeling Newcleus from the day this was launched,  been cranking in my playlist for 35 years, and the CRANK continues to JAM ON IT.

Purple Haze - Kronos Quartet

The Kronos Quartet doing a blotted or hazy version of Jimmy Hendrix Purple Haze. Quite a thing. I wonder if the San Francisco quartet were lucky enough to enjoy Jimmy live or the Haze of back yonder. They certainly have been around long enough to try the Haze, smoked or in blotted paper format, perhaps both and all, and they would be in the right geographical location too. With or without a smoke or blotted paper, I like Jimmy and this version has been morphing around my senses and ears for sometime.

Lemmy 'Special' Mabaso : See you later - My friend Jamie Steels soundtrack

In Madrid's sierra, 'neath the stars so bright, Our family gathered horizontal that night. Comets blazed across the sky, a sight so grand, While Lemmy's music plays, a life's soundtrack, so grand. And Jamie claimed this theme his life Laughter fills the air, as we imagined Jamie shopping to this sound, dreams within reach, Under starlit skies, we silently preach. Hopes and dreams, in the night, took flight, In the galaxys embrace, we found delight. In the garden of the Steels.

Mack Apollo - Gives us an original AFRICA - Vaporwave Style

Vaporwave and Chill wave are nothing new One of the biggest hits from the scene has to be the Toto Africa track, on Youtube you can find at least five versions in various states and forms. I love the electronics in this I am looking forward to having this record on vinyl, I hope I can get a copy. This will go down really well on the patios in Madrid, where we play next to the river in the Cantina, which is part of the Matadero. Apparently the  Kondi Band is a collaboration between Sierra Leonean kondi (thumb piano) player Sorie Kondi and US producer / DJ Chief Boima, who himself has Sierra Leonean roots. http://www.strut-records.com https://www.facebook.com/StrutRecords
