Released in 1985, this rare Japanese record by Aragon —titled ザ・スタジオ完パケ・カラオケ・フルコーラス —translates roughly to "The Studio Complete Karaoke Full Chorus" … but don’t let the "karaoke" label fool you. This is no ordinary singalong LP . Aragon could have been pioneers of the avant-pop/synth-experimental scene in Japan during the early '80s. This album captures the instrumental/karaoke versions of their studio tracks, but in doing so, it highlights the surreal beauty of their arrangements —plastic funk basslines, warped city pop harmonies, cosmic pads, and clinical Linn drum grooves, all stripped of vocals.
