A Journey Back to 1989: The Unforgettable Encounter with Plaza's "YO YO

The year was 1989, a time when the world was experiencing a musical revolution that would shape the future of electronic dance music. Acid house had erupted onto the scene, and its pulsating beats and mind-bending synths were captivating the hearts and souls of young music enthusiasts worldwide. This was a trans-formative period when I was quite young and tender, and seduced by songs that sang about Ecstasy. Plaza's "YO YO," does this, counts, and has an unforgettable bass line that still resonates with me to this day. It was a typical evening in Manchester, the city where musical innovation often found its home. Acid Alan, my father, was known through many decades as he spanned them looking for tunes, and he still is. At the time he had an uncanny knack for discovering hidden Acid House, Belgium, New Beat and just rare audio jewels. On this particular night, he was set to spin the turntables at a wedding reception held in a large hotel along the A6 road near Heaton Moo

Mecanica Popular "Impresionistas 1 + La Edad Del Bronce "

Never forget the first time I heard this driving back on a Sunday and listening to what was the only experimental radio show of the time. It reminded me of so much simply blending Kraftwerk and Autechre into it's own Spanish vibe. Got to love this stuff.

enrique mateu de villavicencio - formas millares (1987)

Makes you wonder what was going through the mind of Enrique Mateu de Villavicencio back in 1987. Maybe the same as that of the Alien Porno Midgets a decade or so later. Anyway, brilliant and thought provoking for sure.

DONNA SUMMER - I FEEL LOVE (Versión Disco) R.I.P Donna!

Singer Donna Summer, famous for disco hits including I Feel Love and Love To Love You Baby, has died at the age of 63. Summer was one of disco's biggest stars and won five Grammy Awards. Her family said they were "at peace celebrating her extraordinary life and her continued legacy". Summer's collaborations with producer Giorgio Moroder helped define the genre, as well as having a huge influence on synth pop and dance music. You have to acknowledged her influence. "While we grieve her passing, we are at peace celebrating her extraordinary life and her continued legacy. Words truly can't express how much we appreciate your prayers and love for our family at this sensitive time."

Jansky Noise Hacksome Rollrock and Jackson Pollock

Jansky Noises most recent album Hacksome Rollrock is available from the Digital Vomit stable. The project was shaped around a working method which can be compared to those employed by Jackson Pollock. I have bound layers of sound using the sounds as color, merging them into a multi-directional recording. The mix was made in a spontaneous stroke motion, with plenty of error, movement and action. A totally random technique of smearing audio . The recording is solid and coarse whilst at the same time haphazard and full of obstructions. There is a rotating wild sense of freedom here where thick forms lick, stick and layer up alongside the thin. The voyage of creation is no less important that the journey you make when you listen Original recording from Studio Loom UK. Download it now

Leyland Kirby - Live For The Future, Long For The Past

It´s more than fair to say, that I am as close to my good friend James Leyland Kirby as anyone can be. Ï am, was and will be, the main co-pig, pie-alot in his life. Without doubt and regardless of what the documentation states - when it comes to musical origin or journey we have shared many and most from birth and beyond. This song, voyage, statement made by Leyland titled - Live for the future, long for the past, is understated. James has without doubt raised the ´´anti´´, and with all due respect received much acclaim for his recent Caretaker and Leyland works. This artifact has somehow has sadly slipped under the radar. Honestly, do not let it pass! It´s defiantly worth playing it again. When you do admire the essence of electricity, this is a true ´´Goliath´´, a timeless and monumental slab of electronics, close to it´s birth place, as crude in origin, but beautiful in form. ARRGH x

Looking good this new book called Retromania, could well be a hit. I will order it now, Simon Reynolds the author seems to be striking more than just a point here. Check it for yourself...

Junior - Mama Used To Say My Mothers Day Dedication 20 years on!

I am playing this at full blast and shaking my booty in the Kitchen, honestly Junior is really doing it for me, I am playing him whilst doing the ironing, whilst drinking tea. This is the best dedication and one of the best Mothers day tunes, I have found today. Do as Junior said, live your life.

The Police - Mother or King Crimson on Mothers Day

I was not aware of this song till now. It's an odd one, written by someone who had a problem with their Mother perhaps? Apparently this was the worst record ever, and the lead singer was asked not to sing this or any other song again, ever, ha! I think it´s a curious and infectious track, written by someone with a vivid imagination. I dont have any problem, but the song here has a twisted melody giving it a creepy edge and attitude. Not a song I would dedicate to my Mother, but certainly a song which must be added to the list of songs which have lyrics about Mothers..

mothers pride george michael

Mothers Day in the UK today. Here is a good one for those Mothers who have watched their young men to out to war. Probably one of the all time great anti-war songs. Expressing the immorality and absurdity of so many of our militaristic actions. Now today, with Kony 2012 over our heads, and the oil and precious mineral war that undelys, it's a good time to think about these points. George Michael sings about how glorification of aggression and martyrdom is endemic and spread from one generation to another.

Solveig Slettahjell - Take It With Me (live, Til Radka, 2009)

I have had a very long and beautiful day today, I have has Sierra winds blasted at my chops, watched Avocet´s and Stilts ride the wave. I have marveled at the wondrous scales of golden fish, belly laughed, seen colors and nature so beautiful, watched vapors mist, cut into pieces by sun rays, eaten Sheppard's Pie, drank Tempranillo from Navarra, taken beautiful photos, and discovered this amazing performance by Solveig Slettahjell. Wow, what a gift of a day, do I thank St. Patric? Life in it´s simplicity can be so, so good.x

The Madame And The Prince - The Sensuous Black Women Meets The Sensuous ...

Oh Shit, this feels so nice. So hilarious, never heard this played out by any DJ, it´s comical, and acknowledge as an inspiration for some early House tracks. Our diva here shows a man how to ride, ride a pig!!!! Dick´s Revenge indeed. Some strong p; black pussy here, I mean as our woman says, look at that happy pussy, is it good to you baby? Ride it!!!!! Smother that dick!!! Not too fast..

Sam Lee - The Ballad of George Collins

The Ballad of George Collins Ooh, yes...Sam Lees is taking things into another dimension, crossing new territory, long, long overdue. So nice to hear Ballads reworked. As some of you know, I too am currently putting Ballads into new spaces and shipping them into zones they have not been into before. You could call our experiments Ballads for lost peoples, or ghost tribes. Our new album, will be out by the end of the year, and a demo very soon. Betting back to this little ditty, this has more energy and really hits the nail on the proverbial head. Cracking combination and meeting point of elements, sounds ideas and people, splendid.

Ilaiyaraaja - Kholapurase Kudasathrivasi feat. S.P. Sailaja & Chorus

Ilaiyaraaja, Ilayaraja, Ilayaraaja, Isaignani, The Maestro... The undeniable prince of Kollywood cinema, India's second largest film industry, Ilaiyaraaja is more than equal to his forward thinking contemporaries in Bollywood and Lollywood in both productivity and experimentation. However, once you have exhausted all possible leads using his various names (and the numerous misspellings) you're faced with the unenviable task of sifting through a 34-year career spanning more than 900 film scores in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada in order to unearth some the heaviest dancefloor friendly electronic pop to ever emerge from Southern India.

Zoffy El Spagetti Zoffy / エルスパゲティゾフィー

S

D
So many things are so wrong in the World. Kony 2012, seems to be the latest. It's impossible to ignore these things. Zoffy, on the other hand has been totally ignored and that's a shame. Here Zoffy offers us a well know Spagetti Western classic. It's been flipped on it's head taking new form with what sounds like a Sitar and space guns! Odd, this maybe, but it feels honest, and it feels right against an alarming and increasing backdrop of false promises and lies, which are projected upon us daily via the media and Policy makers. Malformed music perhaps, but it seems honest and about right for the current world climate.

SPOOKY - Little Bullet - Gargantuan Mix

This one also used to do the rounds in many a car joureny alongside various by Aphex Twin, B-12, and the KLF to name a few. More than 20 years on, but still sounds good!

BLOW - THE CUTTER

Having a bit of a rewind listening to some older retro tracks which were played back in Manchester in the early 90´s at the real underground clubs and Raves like the Limit and Konspiricy. This tune here Blow Cutter, I doubt was played too much at the Hacienda, Graham Park would have lost most of his guts by the time this track came out and would have been playing a much softer less ballsy digestible, smooth house type fodder...

Paul Revere & the Raiders - Baby Please Don't Go (Mono Vinyl Pressing)

My old man used to play this one all the time. You never hear this out ever. I dont remember being in any place hearing this. Sad really as this recording slams it out, loud and clear. The origional by the big man is also worth a look at on Youtube. Have a look for it........

Akron/Family - Don't Be Afraid Your Already Dead

Not sure if this will be seen on my blog as Blogger has a bad way of linking videos recently, lot´s of errors. I am not afraid to try post this link, even if it is dead. In life we must carry on........As for this song, it strikes a chord..

Velvet Underground-Venus In Furs [original take]

Jansky Noise - Escaping Earth (Alpha Centauri Orbit Edit)

We were recently bombarded by a massive Solar Storm, one of the strongest in many years. As a result many amazing times lapse films have been released recording the Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights in splendor. The footage here, is from Nasa, it was recorded before these recent Solar Storms, during this Nasa footage we can enjoy time lapsed magnificence of the Aurora Borealis and much more! The Music on the original version of this film was light years away from this re-score which comes charged (I think), with a magnitude and illumination, much more appropriate for orbiting in space. My edit as you hear here, typically picked up some radioactive particles and interference. Look, listen and imagine yourself, when our beautiful planet is exhausted escaping to another planet like Alpha Centauri! More wonder soon, JN.

Akio Suzuki on Walthamstowe Marshes 1.

A memorizing and beautiful piece of work both from performer and producer, I love the place, the stage the light, aesthetic and of without doubt the performance.

Amorphous Androgynous (Future Sound Of London) - Mountain Goat

Almost a year to the day, I mailed this to someone, special. When I first heard this over 1o years ago, it was loaded with depth and as open as the sea. It´s nice to know it still is!!

Perfume Genius - No tear

Another one from the album titled Put Your Back N 2 It. Good to see this one has had 200 views, not many today, but let´s see where it is in a year! Some spellbinding songs from balladeer Mike Hadreas

All Waters - Perfume Genius

Some great ideas here from todays man in the spotlight, this track gives you an idea about what´s on the album but the real gem is the track titled Awol Marine. Currently not available via Spotify nor Youtube, but soon to appear on the Tube, as they always do. When it does check it, for that matter check the album...

Solex - Honkey Donkey

I remember the first time I heard about this lady, I just wanted to work with her straight away! Her early doodles were growths, which at the time I likened to those meanderings of my good friends at the time Stock Hausen, and Walkman or Vicky Bennet. The Solex stuff however had another tinge, quite brilliant and not British. I defiantly have some tracks on my hard drive which I prepared for Solex in order for us to collaborate, but we never got round to a full collaboration. Shame...
