Connecting "Vegetal Vision" from Brokli with Aneta Rostkowska's Lecture on "The Damaged Planet"

I found an insightful connection between "Vegetal Vision" and a thought-provoking lecture by Aneta Rostkowska in the series "The Damaged Planet" at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne. 🌿 Exploring "Vegetal Vision" First, let me share the lyrics of "Vegetal Vision": cosmic brokli uniting all vegetal vision encompassing cosmic brokli uniting all vegetal vision encompassing 5D consciousness mankind Leave old reality behind when life crashes down and falls rebirth renew, answer the call Mother earth is crying out and wants her child to shout it out and uplift all that cannot see the mighty cosmic brokli This song is offers a few ideas; it's a chant for mankind, a call to connect with nature, as mother earth is crying. it is an anthem for embracing a new reality. Uncle Acid and the Dead Beats - "Ritorno All'oscurità" - Nell’ Ora Blu - Rise Above Records Kevin Starrs

Uncle Acid and the Dead Beats have unleashed "Nell Ora Blue. We are looking at one of the tracks from the album Ritorno All'oscurità," a track that pulls listeners into a hauntingly familiar, yet eerily unique soundscape. Where nostalga and the sinister still allure. "Ritorno All'oscurità" along with many other track from the album feel like the perfect soundtrack to a lost 70s horror flick. According to Kevin Starrs the album was inspired by films like - Things like Five Dolls for an August Moon (1970), The Fifth Cord (1971), and All the Colours of the Dark (1972) a loved Edwige film and more.   Expect a tape warping warm vintage production reminiscent of an era where analogue ruled and digital was but a distant dream. This particular song's title, translating to "Return to Darkness," is a fitting nod as it almost drives you from a dark period, into another one ahead at the next crossing, a sort of quite atmosphere but one where you know you a

Donnell Pitman - Chocolate Lover

In the steamy dancehall scene of the early '80s, Donnell Pitman's "Chocolate Lover" emerges as a funk-infused dance experiment. The groove-laden track contains an irresistibly smooth bassline and plenty of room in the mix. Pitman's voice is soft and not forceful. The production reminds me of so many things, but that snare in his studio on the day would have been ideal. It feels like it could be in a driving movie or a game. That vocal reminded myself of Colonal Abraham or Stevie Wonder. See whether that resonates with you.

Peter Brown - Dance With Me (Original 12 inch Mix) 1978

In the heyday of disco's golden era, Peter Brown's "Dance With Me (Original 12 inch Mix)" emerged in 1978 as a quintessential anthem, epitomizing the vibrant energy and infectious rhythms that defined the late '70s dance scene. This track, with its extended mix, captures the essence of the discotheque experience, inviting listeners into a euphoric world of flashing lights and pulsating beats. From the first note, "Dance With Me" commands attention with its driving bassline and propulsive percussion, setting the stage for an exhilarating journey. The production is a masterful blend of funky guitar riffs, shimmering synthesizers, and lush strings, creating a rich tapestry of sound that envelops the listener. Brown's meticulous craftsmanship is evident in every layer, making this mix a standout in the crowded disco landscape. Peter Brown's vocals are a perfect match for the track's exuberant instrumentation. His smooth, inviting voice effortless

Released in a time of cultural vibrancy, this track is a testament to Albar's unique ability to blend Western rock influences with Indonesian musical sensibilities, creating a sound that is both distinctive and captivating. "Secita Cerita" opens with a striking guitar riff, the production is so of the time. Good energy vibes here for sure. The interplay between the electric guitar and traditional Indonesian instruments creates a textured soundscape, reflecting Albar's innovative approach to rock music. Albar's vocal delivery is the heart of "Secita Cerita." His voice, resonant and full of emotion, conveys the song's narrative with a depth that is both compelling and relatable. The lyrics, which weave a story of love, longing, and personal introspection, are deliver

Brokli - "Mother Gaia"

In his latest single, "Mother Gaia," Brokli taps into the profound essence of mindfulness and spiritual reverence for the Earth. The song is a spirited ode to the nurturing powers of nature and our intrinsic connection to it. Brokli’s lyrical prowess shines as he intricately weaves themes of environmental consciousness with personal enlightenment, making it a compelling listen for those attuned to both inner peace and global awareness. The chorus, “Gaia in your eyes, Gaia in your mind, Mother Gaia taking control,” is a potent reminder of Gaia's omnipresence. Brokli's invocation of the breath of air "coming from a place of love" underscores the belief that every element provided by Earth stems from compassion and sustenance, suggesting that turning to Gaia can bring inner peace and clarity. Musically, "Mother Gaia" swings with a rhythm reminiscent of 1980s pop anthems. It echoes the buoyant and optimistic tones of bands like Wham!, particularly ca

The Death of Spontaneity: How the Loss of Grassroots Live Music Venues is the decline of Our Culture

After reading two articles in the Guardian just published one by John Harris  and the other by Giles Patterson  I find myself wholeheartedly agreeing with them. As I observe the UK, we are heading towards a world where any live shows we find are the ones which are efficiently organised and booked with the most sterilised of musics. I mean the type of top tier performances where they are asking big cash in advanced for a live event, and that leave nothing to chance.  The grassroots are being erased from existence in clubland, and we are forced indoors behind our screens where Tik-Tok and Instagram help us to find any given new music champion. Small venues, pubs, bars, and nightclubs are closing doors and being eliminated systematically. This is a slow degrading of our culture and society as those dives, backroom clubs, and dingy places, were always the places where random music experiences happened - but this not just the loss of a venue. We are on the merry go wrong where the serendi

Ernest Honny: The Funk Maestro and His Legendary "New Dance"

The Embryotica Evolution of Funk Musicians left Ghana in masses, scattering across West Africa, Europe, and North America. Thanks in part to its more lenient immigration policies, Germany became the heart of this scene. Indeed, the movement takes its name from "Bürger," which means "citizen" in German. Less constrained by genres than in Ghana, artists from the diaspora quickly engaged with different styles, incorporating Disco, Boogie, and Funk into their tunes. Access to cutting-edge studios and modern musical technologies also led to all sorts of mutations. In fact, Burger Highlife is defined less by a particular sound than by the experimental approach and global perspective of its artists. Tracks like Ernest Honny's experimental cut, "New Dance," exemplify the extent to which artists have deviated from the original High Life arrangements. Honny, who began his career as a keyboardist in Dr. K Gyasi's band, The Noble Kings, moved to Benin in the

Santana's Album Art: A Legacy of Visual Euphoria

Santana's albums are as visually striking as their sound is iconic. From the wrap-around artwork of "Abraxas" to the bold simplicity of "Santana's Greatest Hits," each cover tells its own story. The "Abraxas" cover, painted by Marti Klarwein, is revered not only for its beauty but also for its symbolism, with many fans seeing the cover's central figure as the embodiment of the "Black Magic Woman" herself. The "Greatest Hits" album cover continues this visual feast with a white dove set against dark skin—a stark image of freedom and an iconic example of album art. The absence of graphics in its alternative version speaks to a purity and directness that fans cherish. Moving through the catalog, "Caravanserai" marks a sonic shift with its Arabic-style graphics, while "Amigos" returns to Klarwein's exoticism through the lens of graphic artist Tadanori Yokoo. These covers not only depict the band's evo
