Zorba The Greek - Sirtaki / A great way to end the night.

Every record collection has that one timeless piece, that final track which has the power to seal the night with an indelible memory. For us, one of those tracks could at times be "Sirtaki" from 'Zorba The Greek.' This song strikes everyone between their eye and summons celebration transcending language.

I recall the nights at El Perro Club in Malasaña, Madrid – those were where our DJ booth would transmit this song and "Sirtaki" would tell everyone that the end was both a closing and a new beginning.

The moment those first unmistakable notes hit the speakers, a collective energy would surge through the crowd. This was beyond the cue for last orders; it was the call to all ordering everyone to join in a circle, hold hand and engaged in a shared experience. We were no longer just a mass of party-goers; we became a family. Arms would find shoulders, steps would fall in line, and the room would pulse with a rhythm that even those with two left feet couldn't resist.

The beauty of "Sirtaki" lay in its crescendo, mirroring the night's journey. It started gently, nostalgically, as if to give a tender nod to the night's passing moments. But then, it would build – oh, how it would build – into a frenetic celebration of life itself. It was in these moments that El Perro Club truly came alive, and "Sirtaki" was our anthem.

The track's ability to bring people together, making us all dancers in Zorba's jubilant circle, remains unmatched. Even now, when the scent of nostalgia grows stronger, I can close my eyes and be transported back to that dimly lit dance floor, where the weight of the world was lost in a haze of euphoria and the simplest of melodies.

"Zorba The Greek - Sirtaki" was, and always will be, the perfect denouement to an evening of unadulterated mirth. It's more than just a dance or a song; it's a spiritual sojourn back to the debouched nights at El Perro where we let the dogs out.

As a DJ, you look for the music that speaks universally, and for us, "Sirtaki" said it all – every time, without fail, a truly great way to end the night.
