Dynamix II - Just Give The DJ A Break

Dynamix II's "Just Give The DJ A Break" is a classic track that has had a lasting impact on the world of electronic music. Released in 1986, the track quickly became a fan favourite and a staple in dance clubs across the United States as well as in my house in Manchester.

For me the A as well as the B side of this record blew me away. The unique blend of electro and that 808 treatment at the time, was just incredible, this record was unlike anything else being produced at the time and stood out for it. The track's driving beats, catchy synth lines, and infectious vocal samples made it an instant classic, and it has remained a favorite for me always

Personally, "Just Give The DJ A Break" was one of the most impactful pieces of music I ever heard as a teenager. The 808 was BUSTING...... energy and intensity, scratches, and breaks samples paying homage to the KIDS, - asking what time is it? It's full of samples from the greates music of the time, The Soul Sonic Force, Cyberton Clear, the Whispers and so many more. Th vocoder effect is bang on the money, when this record arrive it was a mind blowing earthquake. I would often listen to it on repeat for hours on end, completely lost in cow bells, 808, and sonics of in the music.

What's amazing about Dynamix II's music is that it still holds up today, more than 35 years after its initial release. The group's unique sound and innovative production techniques have inspired me, and many others helping the course of electronic music as we know it.

Overall, "Just Give The DJ A Break" is a testament to the power of great music to inspire and move us. Its infectious energy and timeless appeal make it a classic that will continue to be enjoyed by music lovers for generations to come.

The B-side George Straight from the Jungle should also be mentioned for it's humour, again, I must have played this hundreds of times, as a teenager. When you know only too well what sampling capacity we did not have at this time, this record has to be recognised as a major feat. In 1987 I was 14 years of age and not only buying this 12 inch vinyl record, but also DJ'ing with it, from the jungle to the turntable and back out I was inspired.
